I Bought $19 Pencil Tips from Apple
I bought a 2020 iPad Pro from Apple, I also bought the $125 Apple Pencil. It works great, I love everything about it, but the tip of my Apple Pencil, was chewed up by my dog. The Pencil still worked but it was kind of gross to see the chew marks. So naturally, I opened up Safari and went to Apple’s website to order some new tips, what I saw next was not even unexpected, but it was frustrating. Just 4 tiny pieces of plastic, cost the same as a pretty nice Ohio meal, those 4 tiny pieces of plastic that fit into the palm of my hand, cost the same as a week’s worth of coffee, to have to spend 19 dollars on 4 tiny plastic tips that fit in the palm of my hand and probably cost 50 cents to make was annoying, it’s things like this that almost make me want to switch to Android and Windows. Almost.
Whether people realize it or not Apple is a luxury brand, not because their iPhones are way too expensive or because Apple Watches are super expensive but because everything they make is just a tad bit more expensive and premium than the competition, and by selling tiny pieces of plastic for 20 dollars, and by selling 400 dollar computer wheels, and by selling a 300 dollar smart speaker, and by selling 500 dollar headphones, people naturally start to think of Apple as a luxury brand, and that is why people are willing to spend more and more on Apple products every year.
Apple isn’t just a genius marketing company, they aren’t tricking people into buying their products, they legitimately make high-quality products with great features and great design. The attention to detail and their customer service is unrivaled in the tech industry. Apple puts real time and effort into those top-of-the-line services and the details of their products and that is another reason for the “high” prices of their products.
I’m still mad that I had to spend 20 dollars on pencil tips
The worst part is, it didn’t even come with Apple Stickers.
